I work from my studio at the John Marley Centre in Newcastle across a range of mediums and materials.
I am a natural storyteller, both verbally and in my art.
Isn't all art storytelling?
Whether the story begins in reality or imagination the end product is to have the audience travel with me in the story.
My art is inspired by the natural world, folk tales and myths and legends. I like to play with the idea of ‘reality’, at times in a humorous and questioning way. I use drawing, painting, sculpture and photography to produce works that invite the viewer to be curious about the art before them.
Although graduating with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Sunderland my working life has been in the Community and Youth Work charity sector.
Since retiring I have taken part in numerous group and solo shows around the North East. In 2024 I set myself a challenge to produce a drawing each day - 366 drawings in total. The results of this project were exhibited at 1719 , Sunderland.
I am currently part of the 24NE Arts Collective.
