Decaying Cedar of Lebanon
Decaying Cedar of Lebanon
Pen and oil pastel
Danny Gilchrist
The Cedars of Lebanon are mentioned in the Bible as symbols of strength, majesty and divine creation.
In the Epic of Gilgamesh a Cedar Forest of Lebanon are guarded by the monster Humbaba.
It is rare for a cedar tree to decay due to its dense wood, but I came across this one on an estate in the Cotswolds.
