I love to see industrial buildings or structures linked to the coalfields being taken over by nature and 'repurposed'.
One such structure is Dunston Staiths, the largest wooden structure in Europe, which was built in 1893 to help load large quantities of coal onto ships and coal wagons from pits in the Durham coalfields.
After the Staithes closed in 1980, birds such as lapwings, herons, and cormorants began to use it as a nesting ground and just along the river there is a saltmarsh garden which is home for migrating and wading birds.
