Mixed Media, Photography

Landscape has always been important to me. It is something we cannot escape as we are always within it, one way or another. It informs a sense of place, belonging, experience, memory, and emotion. The differing landscapes within the North East of England gives me wide variety of environments to draw inspiration from.

I use drawing and photography as a visual reminder of environments, sometimes collecting stones or other found objects. From these observations my work has moved into abstraction: my emotional response to the detail, form, colour, repetition of line, and texture. I enjoy using a variety of materials to investigate, research, develop, to realise my ideas.

Being a member of EDAN has given me a supportive community, with opportunity to develop my practice particularly with the subject specific projects over periods of months which culminate as group exhibitions around the theme.
