Throughout Time ....
Ellen Dorans
I specifically like the way natural iron oxide deposits or industrial remnants discolour and stain surrounding stone and rock, almost as if it flowed through, in places causing water to collect in red, rusty pools.
I drew rock formations, beaches, areas of water, erosion of cliff edges along the North East coastline, discovering abstract shape and form.
For this piece I used a welding torch to cut and melt mild steel sheet into these forms, allowing it to rust over time, to reference the erosion of natural magnesian limestone and industrial landscape.
