Myrtle
Myrtle MacPherson (1929 -2019) of Easington was an
activist advocating for the rights and well-being of working people all her life. She was a key figure in the Easington Kitchen during the Miners' Strike of 1984-1985 and continued to support the miners' struggle against the closure of their industry by taking part in the Women's Vigil at Vane Tempest Colliery, Seaham in 1993. This lino print was taken from a photograph that I took of Myrtle during the Vane Tempest Vigil.
