I am a mixed media textile artist from Durham with a BA Fine Art painting degree and many years teaching experience. I have exhibited widely in the U.K. and abroad and have received a number of awards including the Hand & Lock 0pen Textile Art Prize 2021, The Embroiderers’Guild Margaret Nicholson Award 2023 and Madeira Threads Competition 2023.

I use a mix of media and a variety of techniques. Having an interest in domestic everyday textiles, I like to reclaim cloth and ephemera to create artwork which are often figurative and hand embroidered. Vintage fabrics can bear the marks of previous owners and makers holding memories and having emotional connections. By hand stitching I merge the traditional with the contemporary to create new narratives from the biography of the cloth.
