There are 238 lifeboat stations around the coast of the UK and Ireland and they operate 400 lifeboats, paid Lifeguards operate at 250 beaches. They create a ring of safety around the coast. The UK’s busiest lifeboat station is at Waterloo Bridge, London. In 2022 over 20% of RNLI rescues were of migrants on the South East coast of England. This is a controversial issue, however the RNLI will always help those in trouble in the water – no matter who they are or where they come from. The RNLI's volunteer lifeboat crews will do everything in their power to save a life and to help those in distress. The colours used in this artwork reflect the RNLI Lifeboat colours, however they could also be viewed on a political level in this current political climate. This artwork is not to scale and does not represent in accurate detail the map of the UK and Ireland.
