Rainforest Pools of Life

Rainforest Pools of Life
Sharron Marley
My submission for the 'Pool' exhibition focusses on the necessity of water to life, in all its forms. Not only is it vital for humans, but water is essential for all known living organisms to survive; from the diversity of plants, animals, birds, insects and microorganisms everywhere. I wanted to show how rainstorms support the natural ecosystem of the Tropical Rainforest, my painting depicting a leopard drinking from a rainwater 'pool' on the ground, blue whistling thrush drinking from raindrop 'pools' on the leaf of a plant, which is also taking in water through its roots (and leaves to a lesser extent) from that very same rainstorm!
