A “rocking stitch” was the type of stitch used by women in the past from mining communities to create frame quilts. Today, slow stitch refers to hand stitching as a means to create modern textiles The slow repetitive movement is thought to help the stitcher's mental health. This piece shows hands stitching on a piece of traditional quilt motif and displayed on a vintage domestic doily.
