This work was developed from explorations into manipulating and drying kelp. I have experimented with kelp as a material, and I am fascinated by the way it transforms and becomes strong as it dries out. The addition of moisture restores it back to its original state. Upcycled steel was selected as a background because of its strength and the way it has started to develop a rusty patina which links to transformation and change of state.
