Time Traveller

Time Traveller - Rust dyed upcycled cotton bedsheet - I have used fabric manipulation techniques and rust dyeing to transform a surface with markmaking which reflect the marks and textures of Magnesian Lime. Throughout the project I have been drawn to how the Magnesian Limestone changes throughout the day. Forms, shapes, marks, tints, tones and shades are dramatically revealed when watched for any length of time, and at different times of day. Words such as layer, fold, unfold, tie, bend, pleat, wrap, gather, sew, crumple stimulated the manipulation techniques and actions used. I am interested in what lies within the Magnesian Lime and just under the front surface.
