The research for the Kelp exhibition involved a great deal of close looking. This was aided by macro-photography which revealed features of the kelp not readily apparent to the casual observer. My macro-images provided the material for developing a series of watercolours based on the range of patterns, colours and textures apparent in the kelp. This one is of kelp in a magnesian limestone pool. The colours of the rock added another dimension to the colours of the kelp highlighted by sunshine on the pool.
