Beneath The Wide Blue Sky

Beneath The Wide Blue Sky
Nasim Akhtar
A walk at North Gare, exploring the coastline, led me to a stretch of vivid green samphire, its saltiness mingling with the sea air. Looking across the landscape, the expanse of green seemed almost endless, framed by glimpses of distant industry beneath a wide, open blue sky scattered with soft clouds.
This abstract landscape was created through layered applications of acrylic paint, using a minimal colour palette to convey the simplicity and quiet strength of the scene. Variations of green, from deep to light tones, bring texture and depth to the foreground. Subtle touches of gold alcohol ink and pen detail were added along the horizon to draw the viewer’s eye and evoke the shimmer of light across the landscape.
