Decay of Society

Pubs and working men's clubs started closing around 1985 when we stood in queues at the local post office listening to neighbour chat to neighbour collecting pensions and benefits, not seeming to mind the wait while catching up on local news. Everything is now paid into our bank accounts while bank buildings are closing, due to banking transactions being now mostly digital. This is where we sometimes chatted to strangers. Butchers, another queue another chance to chat, now we pick our meat up from the supermarket. Local builders merchants have been overtaken by having more choice and cheaper goods at B&Q.
It is more convenient but less social, we often don't know out neighbours any more
