Auster

"Auster" is the second piece in my Wind Gods Trilogy, named after the Roman god of the south wind. This wind is known for bringing hot, humid air up from Africa and the Mediterranean. I wanted this sculpture to look like a rolling, windswept heatwave. To capture the intense, turbulent energy, I gave the inside a rough texture and painted it red with glitter that catches the light like a wave of heat.
