Pollinator Pathways No 1: Rosebay Willow Herb

Pollinator Pathways No 1: Rosebay Willow Herb
Hand & Machine Embroidery on Painted Canvas
Sandra Totty
Celebrating the resilience and beauty of wildflowers in untamed landscapes, this series of hand and machine embroidered artworks explores connections between flora, pollinators, and habitat. Intersecting threads symbolise relationships among plants, insects, and wildlife that depend on these environments, while honeycomb patterns represent bees and pollinators vital to ecosystems. The work highlights nature’s richness and the importance of protecting habitats they need to survive.
Rosebay Willowherb is known for quickly colonising disturbed ground, symbolising renewal, resilience and nature’s ability to recover and thrive. Tall stitched flower spikes rise through the painted landscape, adding colour, movement and vitality to the scene.
