Seam of Change
Ceramic Pot
Sharron Marley
This ceramic pot reflects the transition from coal dependency to renewable futures. The lower glaze evokes the darkness and weight of the mined coal, the dark, slightly metallic glaze representing the redundant, rusting metal of the rail tracks, gradually lightening to represent environmental recovery and evolving energy-landscapes. Inside, the flowing blue/purple glaze accents symbolise mine water, now being repurposed as a sustainable heat-source, embodying regeneration, memory, and transformation.
