Blast beach reflections

Blast beach reflections
Blast beach reflections
Jean Spence

This piece began as a slow stitching project following the lines on the eco-dyed cloth and the creases in the sea-washed textile found on the Blast Beach. Initially the focus was on the central ‘moon’ as a source of light. As the stitching progressed, more cyclical marks emerged in the dyed cloth suggesting a range of light sources. Reflections are not only physical forms of light but also a mode of thinking that helps enlightenment. The slow stitching in this piece was an aid to reflective thinking.
