Forgotten
Sculpture: Wood, rusted steel
Ellen Dorans
I carved this beech log many years ago in response to stories my grandad told me about working down the pit. He told of how confining and claustrophobic felt to be underground cutting at the coal face, sometimes in seams only 18 inches tall. The sculpture has changed considerably outdoors beginning now to rot and rust with constant exposure to the elements.
