The five sisters
Jean Spence

This is a collection of five vessels depicting the female in coal mining life and culture. The vessels were made primarily using found items from Seaham's Blast beach. These items are detritus from an industrial age that was predominantly masculine and that split production from nature, polluting the planet. The feminine principal must re-emerge to stitch together and hold what is broken.
