Kay Holborn Bond

Kelp has an amazing capacity to grow very fast, from a tiny speck to six foot long in just six months, and in the sea, where gravity's pull is softened, this results in a tall swaying forest of a plant, something much different to the vision we have of kelp as it lies flat and lifeless, tossed on the bare rocks. This piece attempts to allow us to imagine being in a kelp forest.
The title of the piece and the colourations on the individual ceramic pieces stem from the knowledge that changing sea temperatures effect natural marine habitats as a result of changing pH balance.
