What Lies Beneath I

This stoneware vessel is inspired by the changing role of coal mines. The rough black exterior represents the coal seams and the industrial past. Inside, the blue glaze reflects the water that now fills many abandoned mines, while the subtle red suggests the heat still stored underground. Today, this heat can be used as geothermal energy, offering a more sustainable future. The piece highlights how places once used for extraction can be reimagined as sources of renewable energy.
