Corbie in Kelp

Corbie in Kelp
Jean Spence
Corbies (crows) are a common feature on North Sea beaches. They are well camouflaged as they root for food amongst the kelp thrown up by the tide and on the rocks. This crow emerged in the process of carving and printing a piece of lino. The original image was meant to be only of kelp on the shore, but the space in the curve of the foreground kelp piece created and image of a crow's head that is initially hidden from view.
