This piece looks at what remains beneath the surface once mining has stopped. The textured dark glaze on the outside reflects the rugged nature of coal and the landscape it shaped. Inside, the blue glaze pools and breaks apart, echoing the water that has gradually filled disused mines. The piece centres on this transformation—from active extraction to stillness—where disused mines become reservoirs. It considers how these hidden environments continue to exist beneath the surface, taking on new forms and meanings beyond their original purpose.
