The Slow Unravelling
Liquid Acrylic and Sumi ink
Nasim Akhtar
Floating seagrass is captured in the changing seasons, as summer fades into autumn and winter. This experimental work began by submerging paper in the North Sea, allowing its movement and ebbing currents to shape the fluid acrylic background. I then applied liquid acrylic by hand, creating floating fronds in varying stages of decay. Shifting hues and tones evoke the gradual transformation and disappearance of seagrass as summer ebbs away.
