Sapphire Kelp

Sapphire Kelp
Derek Newton Lynch
This piece is my tribute to the quiet, rhythmic world beneath the waves. Crafted from earthenware, it reflects the swaying resilience of kelp forests, capturing that fleeting moment when a current catches a blade and pulls it toward the light.
I chose to move away from traditional glazes here, using airbrushing to achieve a depth of blue that feels more like moving water than static clay, finished with lacquer.
