Sea Glass bottle
Jean Spence
NFS
The pieces sea glass fragments that make this piece have been assembled to resemble the shape of an original Seaham bottle (slightly distorted due to the shapes of the glass fragments). The light inside is reminiscent of the tradition of putting messages, or models in bottles. Here it emphasises the light quality and colour of the sea glass
Glass is a substance designed to absorb, reflect and reveal light. Seaham sea glass has a frosted quality that sometimes dulls its luminescence. The light inside the ‘bottle’, and the use of colour to create a design reveal the quality of light in the glass.
