Land and Sea

The sea has been used as a sink for human detritus, hiding our rubbish and hastening the process of decay. However, the extractive industries and overproduction of manufactured materials that do not decay as easily as natural objects are causing marine stress. No longer can the sea hide the rubbish. It spits it back distorted and semi-decayed. The sea and land are not separate entities. Hand stitched, patchwork fragments from mining and shipping, indicate efforts to reclaim the unity and interconnectedness of things separated by industrial processes.
