Black Hole -Negative Energy - Expanding Universe

My father, a reluctant coal miner, called the his pit 'The Black Hole'. Coal energy was key to the industrial revolution which flourished through mechanisation, rationality, and a separation of humanity from the natural world. Nature was external and for exploitation. Now it has been theorised that another type of Black Hole in space, is the source of a negative energy that causes the universe to expand. In order to truly understand the potential of energy 'beyond coal' we must move beyond mechanistic thinking and develop new forms of understanding.
