My boat paintings begin with drawings on site and are continued in the studio, at times supported by photographs to jog my fading memory.
My late wife was from the fishing town of Brixham in S. Devon and I am from South Shields, so we both had an affinity with boats and worked together in these special places.
We also took our kit abroad to explore the differences in the shapes and colours of boats and their locality, many of them abandoned to the elements, not necessarily picturesque.
