John Thirlwall

I usually paint in oils with brush and knife, and draw in charcoal, very occasionally with other materials.
My works are invariably about tone, texture and colour, but include essential elements of line, shape and composition.
I tend to work on a given series for a year or so, in this case boats, but I have also worked on flowers, landscape settings, historical sculpture, sport and still life.
I invariably return to drawing from the life model, my go-to passion.
