Tides of Abstraction
Nasim Akhtar
On my coastal walks, the North Sea is my constant companion, its waves washing ashore, crashing and retreating with timeless rhythm, regardless of the season. It is both grounding and inspiring, a reminder of nature’s enduring power and beauty. This abstract artwork draws directly from that connection. Layers of acrylic paint were built up to evoke the depth and atmosphere of the sea, capturing the movement and energy of waves colliding with the shore. The colour palette remains intentionally minimal to convey the sea’s raw drama, yet within it lies a rich tonal spectrum that reveals subtle shifts and intensity, much like the North Sea itself.
