The sequence of misery, redemption and thankfulness forms a foundation, three-part framework in Christian theology, describing the human condition and the life of faith. But if we replace God with secular peoples or institutions, the story remains the same.
THANKFULNESS
Because redemption is a free gift of grace (not earned by merit), the appropriate response is a life characterised by gratitude.
In a post-coal age, this heritage may be a possible future energy-source. Should we be grateful that it is these very mines that will heat NEW homes?
