Gap in the Wind

LINDSEY TYSON, Guest Artist at EDAN: Decay 8/9/26 -31/10/26

Lindsey Tyson is an award-winning artist based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, whose practice explores atmosphere, place and the emotional resonance of landscape.
Working primarily with encaustic and mixed media, Lindsey builds surfaces through layers of colour, texture and expressive mark-making. She is drawn to materials and processes that evoke a sense of history: her paintings appear shaped by weather and the passage of time.
Gap in the Wind has a deliberately weathered appearance. Its distressed surface suggests something eroded and altered through prolonged exposure to the elements.
The work responds to the theme of decay through its visual language of erosion and change. Layers appear worn away, cracked or obscured, yet this deterioration also reveals new forms and unexpected beauty.
A regular visitor to Seaham, Lindsey is fascinated by the visible traces of its industrial past, particularly the remnants found on the Blast Beach.
She is delighted to take part in DECAY as a guest artist and thanks the EDAN community for the invitation.
