Mag Lime Mosaic - Pebble Patriotism

The pebbles used to create this mosaic were all gathered on the Red Acre Beach in Seaham. I love the textures and variations in colour of each individual pebble and how the individual pebbles can be combined to create a larger, more cohesive and more interesting pattern, proving that there is something in the saying “The whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts” – the principle of synergy or emergence, where the interaction and organisation of parts create something new and more significant.
