I often try to walk at dawn during the winter solstice and this image draws on my experience of the colours of a solstice sunrise along the cliff tops south of Noses point when the stalks of the flora both glow in the light and are silhouetted against it as the sea reflects the light of the rising sun.
The Winter solstice is a key moment in the movement of dark to light and the moment of change after which days will be longer and light increase.
