Waves

Waves
Derek Newton Lynch
£25

This ceramic sculpture, titled "Waves" is a graceful representation of flowing water, crafted from earthenware clay. The piece features two symmetrical, crescent-like forms that rise and curve towards each other, evoking the dynamic movement of ocean waves. I airbrushed the surface with a gradient of deep blue transitioning to white, capturing the natural coloration of sea foam and water. The colour transitions smoothly from a dark, rich blue at the base to a lighter, almost ethereal white at the tips, creating a sense of depth and fluidity. A high-gloss lacquer finish enhances the visual appeal, giving the sculpture a shiny, wet look that mimics the reflective quality of water. This finishing touch not only adds to the aesthetic but also provides a protective layer, ensuring the longevity of the piece. The overall design is both modern and organic, making it a striking centrepiece for any contemporary space.
