I live in Durham and have always loved the coast and countryside around my home town.

This love has inspired my passion for photography and helped me to develop a photographic style that, whilst still evolving, always draws on my appreciation of the beauty of the natural world around me. This approach is allowing me to produce a body of work of which I am
extremely proud.

In developing my personal approach to photographing the natural world, I seek inspiration by focusing on the small-scale detail within a scene that is often overlooked. My objective is to find beauty in what can initially appear ordinary or mundane by focusing on and highlighting natural colours, shapes, textures and pattens. I particularly enjoy photographing rocks, lichens, plants and wood or elements of natural decay such as rust or paint-peel.

Seeing and appreciating this detail through the viewfinder leads to striking, abstract and artistic images. I use photography as an art-form to highlight natural beauty rather than to simply capture a record or “stock” image of a scene.

As a member of East Durham Artists Network (EDAN), I regularly exhibit as part of their programme of events. I have also been successful in having photographs accepted for display at Bishop Auckland Town Hall Gallery, The Station Gallery (Richmond), The Heritage Gallery (Middlesbrough) and the Badger-in-the-Wall Gallery (Clapham, North Yorkshire). I also show/sell my work through various craft fairs and events in the North East. A sample of my work be seen on the EDAN website as well as on my other social media platforms.
