I am a professionally trained BA Hons Fine Artist, graduating at Sunderland University in 2015. I specialise in making memory canvas keepsakes using mod podge ink prints of old photographs and gel medium wording alongside peoples favourite things, memories and objects in order to bring all these things together to treasure forever. I also hand paint bespoke decorative interior wall art to match any space. Each piece of art I make has a mushroom included in it – sometimes it hidden, sometimes it is a focal piece of the artwork. Making interesting decorative artworks truly makes me happy and I believe that doing things that instil posterity is pivotal in influencing well-being.
Having worked for a blue chip corporate bank for 18 years I have developed many skills in leadership, management and stakeholder communication and relationships as a Senior Programme/Change Manager. This background has given me the confidence to enhance my entrepreneurship life long goal of creating my own artistic brand and channelling creativity in children. Having taken redundancy in 2019 I am now setting up my own business using my artistic expertise. My venture ‘Mushroom Marvellous’ seeks to stimulate tiny minds through art and magical imagination. I capture and create memories by making beautiful things and inspire children to do things that generate happiness. I aim to promote art and creativity in children by launching mushroom characters which can be downloaded, printed and coloured, as well as facilitating creative workshops in the community.
I have been a member of EDAN since September 2018 which has allowed me to explore all kinds of art mediums and I have exhibited a diverse mix of artworks including acrylic, oil, drawing and ceramics. By doing this experimentation work I have finally found my passion in mixed media and printed pieces. I am an active volunteer in the gallery and you can also find out what I'm up to on my Facebook Page @mushroommarvellous. Im quirky, Im eccentric and Im a bit of a live wire so come and say hello via the realms of social media or just pop along to the gallery for a chat!
