Mara is a Photographic Artist based in the North East of England on the beautiful Durham Heritage Coast.  In her work, she explores ideas of memory, place, healing and physicality.  Recently she has focused on ideas of being physically present in an increasingly virtual society, exploring ideas of making art through a tactile experience in a traditional photographic darkroom or from the air with a drone.  She is best known for her landscape work using the Victorian Cyanotype and Lumen processes developed at the birth of photography in the 19th Century and for being the host of the 'Is That Really Photography?' Podcast about alternative photography.

She holds a Master of Arts in Photography and utilises analogue and digital techniques, still and moving images.  Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is held in the special collection of the University of Kent.
