Joy Hall
BA(Hons) Art & Design
I work mainly in textiles, incorporating text, print, wax, metals and found objects into machine and hand embroidery, often ending up as a three- dimensional piece, sometimes making wearable art.
I draw my inspiration from a range of interests in Local History, Family History, artefacts and natural forms.
I enjoy the challenge of working in three dimensions. Texture and form are important to me. Often, working in three dimensions gives my work a quirky, humorous feel.
I was born and brought up in Sunderland. I worked 18 years for a textile designer based near Durham. I studied Art and Design at Sunderland University where I met my husband John.
I enjoy being a member of EDAN, meeting up with like minded artists, attending talks and taking part in exhibitions.
